In the folder you will find two types of sound files - the first file in the "mnfbackup" format, which contains sounds arranged in the order of the demo video. The second file in the "mnfx" format contains the same presets arranged in alphabetical order. You can load both files using the Minifreak V software.
There is also a list of patch names and types (ARPS, Leads, Pads etc).

Yes! You can load the patches into hardware Minifreak as well as the VST edition.
No, only standard synthesis engines are used, there is no need to transfer any samples.
The Modwheel is configured - each preset has a dedicated option to modify the sound using the Modwheel. The presets do not have the Macro and Velocity knobs configured.
Unfortunatelly not. Microfreak has slightly different sound engine. But I've created a dedicated soundbank for the MicroFreak (see here)
Most of the sequences you hear in the demo video are included in this soundbank.

I started working on these patches for Arturia Minifreak with the intention of precisely, manually transferring the sounds I created for Arturia Microfreak. However, it quickly turned out that it is not that easy - some parameters in both instruments use different types of measures.
Both instruments also use completely different waveshapes in the wavetable engine, which meant that I would not be able to transfer many sounds. What is more, the possibilities of MiniFreak turned out to be so extensive compared to MicroFreak, that I quickly decided to create an entire soundbank from scratch. And I do not regret this decision.
This is a really fantastic little instrument, which takes the possibilities of MicroFreak to a completely new level. Here we have not one, but two digital oscillators with a lot of interesting engines. We have a very extensive modulation matrix, which is used extremely smoothly and efficiently. We have a completely new, very versatile effects section with different types of reverb, delay, also with a compressor and a distortion module. What's more - we can replace the second oscillator with an additional effect - most often in the form of a filter. I used the Comb Filter very often thanks to this - a crazy effect, thanks to which we can obtain a lot of unexpected sonic results.
Let's add to this a quite advanced sequencer, arpeggiator, elements improving performance - Arturia Minifreak is a really great instrument for all those who like non-standard sound design. It can be a great complement to more classic subtractive synthesizers in your setup.
What I didn't like? It's a very digital instrument - it was hard for me to get a typical analog sound on it, with a lot of grit, warmth and depth. On the other hand, it works great for all kinds of spatial pads and other ambient sounds.
Both oscillators do not have a typical mixer module - which means that they sometimes enter into strange, not always pleasant to the ear relationships - here you have to modify the volume of each of them accordingly.
Apart from that, I had a great time. The ability to change the engine while maintaining the parameter settings gives incredible possibilities in terms of sound design - each preset can be a great starting point for further sonic exploration.
